The role is tied to the department's containment level 3 facilities, including a planned agriculture-focused CL3 lab.
The role
A full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. The successful candidate will lead a research program on diseases caused by emerging pathogens, teach and mentor students, and be nominated for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair. The appointment depends on the Chair being awarded, with an expected start of September 1, 2027.
What they are looking for
A PhD with at least two years of postdoctoral experience, a strong publication record, and the potential to win Tri-Agency funding. Hands-on experience in containment level 3 facilities and with Risk Group 3 pathogens is required, as is eligibility for federal security clearance to work in the CL3 agriculture facility.
Eligibility
Tier 2 Chairs are for emerging researchers, generally within 10 years of their first independent academic appointment. Applications are reviewed until the position is filled.
